Our first day solo and seeing the Dr.

Thursday 17/07/14 and Friday 18/07/14

Today after we woke up and had breakfast we messaged Brittney (the girl who has been our guardian angel here on the island) and asked her to call Shawn and see what was up with our car. She called the number he gave her and it was a fake (yeah no joke). I found the number for the shop he worked for and gave her that. She called there and got his real number. This brings up the question, did he give us a fake number or can we just not understand what people say? Anyways, she called him and he said he would be over in 30 minutes. Again that was island time, but he arrived after about an hour. Everything was fixed accept the A/C which he said he could recharge for the price of the free-on. I gave him the cash and he left. He came back about an hour and a half later saying that the o-rings on the A/C unit were bad but that he had replaced them and we should be good after one more recharge that he would come to our place and do the next day. He took his car and was on his way.

After lunch we went to the University Club to swim. On Mondays and Thursdays under-class students and their families can use the pool and restaurant. The club is the place where SGU houses all of their visiting professors. They have at least a dozen almost all of the time. The swimming was really nice. It is definitely the best way we have found to beat the heat thus far. There weren't as many branch members at the pool this time, but we did see a new girl (new meaning this is her first term) named Dorthy there. When we got done swimming she was just waiting for the bus so we took her home. I was so proud of us! We were finally giving back and not just getting. We spent the rest of the night watching movies and went to bed early because we wanted to go see Cher's Dr. in the morning.

Friday (today!) we woke up at 6 am so that we could be the first ones in line at the Dr.'s office. There are no appointments here, so we heard that if you want to be seen you go early. Well we got there at 6:45 am and no one else was anywhere to be seen. We waited for a while and finally a lady drove up. She seemed happy to be #2 in line, but then no one else came. Finally at 8 am the front office worker came and opened the door. We went inside and waited again till 9:30. They finally called us into the back to get a patient history and wait to see the Dr. We waited for a while in a small exam room, but were then moved to Dr.'s office which has a larger exam room attached to it because it was our first visit. The Dr. finally came in to see us at 10:45 (no joke). You would figure we would have been pissed, but this is Grenada. Plus he was super nice/professional/knowledgeable and he had a really good excuse for not getting there till 9:30 (one of his patients was having her baby). He examined Cher and engaged me about what he was doing and why. He then sat down and answered all of our questions. He seems really great and it is very comforting to me to know that he will be there to help us should we need anything.

When we were done at the Dr.'s it was still raining a little(yeah, it was raining while we were there. And not just a sprinkle, like real rain) so we decided to just go to the store and then home. We bought a few small things we were missing and a few "delicacies". Today's lunch delicacy? Tony's pizza. Hah. After lunch we took a little nap to make up for getting up so early and after that we walked down the street to a small beach that is near by. It was really nice weather because it of the time we went and because it has been raining all day. We just walked in the water for a while and tried to enjoy it all. Bear didn't love it, but it wasn't as bad as I had assumed it would be. He generally does not like the water, but he did good walking to the water after each wave would rush the shore. He didn't like being hit by the small waves though. After our walk we came home and have been working on these stories intermittently since.

We are really hoping that we can stay up on our writing from now on.
We want everyone to be involved in our lives and adventures here.
If you have any questions feels free to post them and we will do our best to include answers in our writing.
