Anxiously Awaiting

Today is week 39... out of 40... still no sign of the little one. I swear we can specifically see her foot when she's trying to bust through though. We had been told multiple times that babies often come early here because of the intense heat and I had to audacity to believe it. We've got a stubborn one on our hands- I wonder which side she gets it from. Both probably. I just hope she doesn't wait an extra 2 weeks like Tony. Everyone is always asking "How are you feeling? Have you had any contractions yet?" In case you're wondering at home, I feel large and often warm.Other than that, just fine. And obviously I haven't had contractions. Do you see me in labor yet? I've had swelling only once during my entire pregnancy- it was last Tuesday when I ate quite a few homemade pretzels. I shouldn't have eaten somewhere near 20 pretzels, but I did and I loved it. I didn't get the low-quality cheese sauce to go along with them, but I was quite happy with some marinara sauce... weird I know, but I liked it. I had brought home the pretzels to split with Tony, but he ate maybe three and said he wanted me to have the rest because he knows how much I've been wanting them (the best husband, right?!) Also, in the picture you see some rolls. I made those! I've never made homemade bread of any kind before and I made those! It rained a lot last Tuesday making the air nice and cool. My friend Katie and I had a baking day to celebrate. She made the pretzels, I made the rolls and we split the spoils. I also made loaded baked potatoes for dinner! It had been a good day.

Have I mentioned how lucky I am to have Tony? He has been with me to every baby doctor appointment and tries to study at home as much as he can so that he can be around physically, even if it's mentally. Compared to other wives, I see my husband 3x as much as they do. I know it won't be like this for every semester, but I sure do appreciate it during this trying and uncertain first few months. Monday night he wanted me to cornrow his hair. This was my attempt. I didn't pull his hair very hard, nor did I make the rows very small, so the style didn't hold more than 20 minutes with the fan blowing on it haha.

Thursday I went to pool for four hours and told Tony I would do the dishes when I came back- it had been a hot morning and I needed to cool down. He stayed home to study (like usual) and then left for class before I came home. When I arrived, I found this in the sink. I'm the luckiest, right?

Wednesday nights are really fun because Tony is part of the SGU Improve Comedy Club. It's run by one of our LDS friends and it's basically a live version of Whose Line is it Anyway? Tony is really good at it. He's always been a smart-a$$ and comes up with quick jokes, so this is a great place that lets him show case his talent. I think it's really good for him too because for two hours every week, he gets to just have fun and not think about anything medical. I accompany him every week and I enjoy watching the players and laughing. I gave it a try once or twice, but I'm not the improv type. I do get to enjoy an A/C room during practice time too! They'll be having a show in October, so my mom will be able to come and watch.
The kid on the floor, Mike, was an old lady. Tony, the gold digger CNA, had pushed her over.

On a random note, Tony wanted to share how we decorate our house. Tony loves how our house is always adorning hanging swimsuits.

Here are some projects I've tackled recently. There was a girl down here that celebrated her 30th birthday so I helped coordinate and throw her a 30th birthday party. It was supposed to be at the beach, but it got rained out. We still celebrated a little in the nearby pavillion. These are the "dirty 30" cupcakes I had made: chocolate cupcakes with a little layer of chocolate frosting, crushed Tea Times (cookies that mimic Oreos) and a gummy worm on top.

A really long time ago I found this super cute idea on Pinterest to make a seashell tiara for the baby. It took a while to collect the shells and necessary wire and headbands, but this last week I finally finished gathering everything. Originally I had wanted it perfectly symmetrical but I had to accept that nature doesn't do that. The finished project looks pretty cool, but I feel it's a little too tall. It's very sturdy so it doesn't collapse, but I'm just unsure how it'll be for a baby. Bear modeled it well though. My favorite part of the whole thing: a whole clam shell I found on Secret Beach- like still in tact!

You may notice Bear looking a little naked in the above picture. We gave him his shortest-ever haircut this morning. He hates it. And I'm pretty sure we shaved another whole dog from him.

  1. The Rolls look amazing! I can't believe that it's your first time making them. They are beautiful. I'm glad that Tony is taking good care of you. I'd have to beat him if he wasn't. Ha Ha. We're thinking of you every day. Our prayers are with you both. Love ya!
